Post WSYA 2010 - The Way Forward

The events are over, the Winners, WSYA Jury, Team and Speakers have all flown back to their various destinations all over the world.

In my head I can hear the questions..........WHAT NEXT? What is the way forward?

Here is my plan....

The next WSYA is in 2011 and I hope to be called as one of the ambassadors and judges once more. I hope to raise enough awareness this time to ensure that we have submissions with high quality from Nigeria in EVERY category, and hopefully these submissions will yield winners or runners up as well. Nigerian youth need to become more active and take a stand. The MDGs affect them and their future and we need them to stand up and take action. Let their voices be heard and let their talents be known all over the world.

Now how do we get there you may wonder? Yes yes I am a dreamer and I like reaching for the stars, but I do believe that we can get there and we can achieve it. At the moment I am still brewing up a plan, which consists of workshops teaching skills, awareness seminars on the MDGs and social awareness.....as well as many more articles on IT TALK that will help equip the Nigerian youth with adequate skills, tools and knowledge to excel in the 2011 WSYA.....

To round it up, the WSYA 2011 in New York was an amazing experience that made me question alot of the things that I do, alot of the time that I waste chasing contracts, clients etc. while I could be investing my time in changing the world. Some people already feel I am doing more than others, but to me it is still not enough....I am happy I was challenged by people as young as 18 to change my outlook and ensure I make a difference in the world.
